Thank you for taking the time to get to know us. It is with great respect that we sit down to write this letter. We are humbled by your decision to create an adoption plan, and we pray that you find comfort and peace in the choices ahead. We are deeply honored to be considered as parents for your child, as we have built a stable life and home together where laughter, trust and love are the most important things.

Our home is a very receptive and comfortable environment perfect for a child. We have undergone many trials in an effort to have children on our own without success.  However, we have constructed a nurturing haven of warmth, security, and love centered around a young one. We want to commit our love and especially our time to this child. Please read more about us and find out what a wonderful life this baby could expect.

ABOUT US: We were introduced through a mutual acquaintance. On our first date we knew that it was the start of something very special. We waited for a long time to find one another, and now that we have, we are ready to share our special union with a son or daughter. The love, trust and mutual respect that we have for one another is what makes our marriage strong and healthy, and this is what will serve as the foundation of our family. Our life is very simple but we have fun. We love to sing and dance. It doesn’t really matter what type of music or dancing. We also enjoy being outdoors. We love going to places we haven’t been before and meeting new people from all walks of life.
We also like reading and going to the movies. Being from different backgrounds, we are constantly exposing one another to diverse types of each.  Learning is a big part of who and what we are.  We constantly educate one another on our respective languages and cultures.  It is incredible that although things can be so different, people are always inevitable the same. We enjoy our lives together, whether we are home, going out, or having friends over for dinner.  We enjoy each other’s company immensely and really prefer to be together as much as possible.

We are both Christians. We believe in God and His presence in our lives. We know that God brought us together and created a great team, and we are ready to share that love with our child. We believe in hard work and honesty in all things. We are committed to raising a child with strong values, a love of family, and an understanding of the importance of education and hard work. We love each other and our families, and we can guarantee you that the child who comes to our home will enjoy stability, compassion, laughter, faith, pride and a lot of love and happiness. We learn from life everyday and believe life and people teach you lessons as long as you are listening.

ABOUT BEN:

I asked God for a handsome, good man, who loves me and respects me, with a good sense of humor, and I found all of that and more in Ben.  He is a very compassionate person, a loving husband, and a very good friend. Actually, he is my best friend and my favorite person. He is very close to his only brother, as well as his mom and dad, and keeps permanent contact with the rest of his family. What I like the most about Ben is that he has a very good heart. He is kind, warm, gentle, very down-to-earth, sincere, funny and would do just about anything for anyone.
And for the ones he loves, he is the most generous and forgiving person I have ever met.  With Ben everything is easy and fun and I feel happiness around him all the time.  The way Ben behaves with our nephews and nieces assures me that he will be a great father.  Ben is like a magnet with children.  They are always drawn to him wherever we go.  My nephew came from Colombia to visit us. He speaks little English and Ben had not a great deal of Spanish at that time. They went to see “The Fantastic Four” together.  They talked for hours after the movie and still do to this day. The neighborhood kids adore Ben.  He is never able to get yard work done because when he is outside the children always manage to pull him away.  He is ready to be a dad, to have a child to teach things, and to build a good life full of love, hope and happiness.

Ben works for a manufacturing company, in the production planning department. He is hard-working and dedicated, and he enjoys being with customers and co-workers. He has assumed a leadership role in production meetings, inspiring and motivating other employees. 

Ben loves playing golf, and he enjoys fly-fishing, and tennis. He also likes working in our yard, which is good.  He takes care of the outside, and I take of the inside of the house. He is very intelligent but also has a lot of common sense.  He is always reading, sharing trivia about earth, history, animals and politics. He instantly won over my mom when he started to talk about Colombian history and the independence process in my country. After that conversation, my mom knew he was the one for me.  He speaks Spanish very well and is my best English teacher.  Ben is perfectly described in Shakira’s song “Something”, which says: “when I look into his eyes they say to me that God still exists.” That’s exactly how I feel about my husband Ben.

ABOUT ANAMARIA: When I first met my wife, I had an idea of what I wanted. People say most men are looking for someone like their mother, which was a pretty tall order in my case. My mother is a gentle and caring as anyone you will meet. Anamaria fit the bill and more. She is extremely intelligent and thoughtful person. She learned English in 6 months, which is no small task in itself. In addition, she is an attorney in her birthplace of Colombia, and recently took the bar exam last February. However, the best parts of Anamaria are in her heart. I have never met a more loving, caring, and genuine person in my life. She finds the best parts in everyone she meets and brings it out of them. One thing I never knew I wanted, she brought to our marriage. She makes me, each and every day, want to be a better person; a better man. I know that Anamaria would be a wonderful mother. She dotes on our nieces and nephews and is herself a kid at heart.  She has a unique way of finding the special spot in each person (adult or child) and forging a bond there.

Anamaria has been a blessing with my family.  She is all I could have dreamed a wife could be with them.  Life is so easy with her.  She is my partner; an extension of me.  We always work together as a team in all of our pursuits. She currently works as a paralegal.  She is an attorney in her native Colombia and, having recently taken the bar exam, will hopefully be a U.S. Attorney.

OUR HOME:

We have a lovely, cozy home in a subdivision in a small town. We share our lives with a wonderful mutt – Elvis – that brings us joy every day. We enjoy our lives together whether we are home, going out, or having friends over for dinner. We enjoy each other’s company immensely and really prefer to be together as much as possible. Our house is in a small town 45 minutes north of Atlanta, which allows us to enjoy the activities and events of a large city. This town is a wonderful place to raise a child; we have museums, festivals, fairs, sporting events, farmers markets.

We chose the neighborhood we live in because of the large number of young families.  You find families walking with their kids and dogs all the time. Our home is a two story house on two acres with a large backyard. The front yard is filled with flowers and plants and there is a small area in the back yard for our small vegetable garden.

OUR FAMILIES:

Our families are so excited, happy and expectant about the prospect of a new member of this big family. Everybody is waiting for our child with anticipation, hugs, kisses and, most importantly, love. Ben’s mother and her husband live 25 minutes away, as do his brother and dad and his wife. Anamaria’s mother, one sister and nephew live In Colombia, South America; and her other sister, her husband,  and nieces live in Florida. Anamaria’s family comes to visit at least once or twice a year. Being closer to Ben’s parents and family means it is easier to get together for holidays, too. We are both fairly traditional, so we enjoy the rituals of the holidays with family.

Once a year we all go to Pawleys Island, SC with our Family. It is a great Week! We also go at least once a year to Florida to visit our nieces.We are very fortunate to come from loving and supportive families. Both of our parents have given us unconditional love, support, and a strong sense of values throughout our lives.

OUR PROMISE:

We truly respect the loving and courageous choice you are making for the baby’s future and we want you to know that we will love and cherish your child for the rest of our lives.

We will raise a son or daughter in a loving home and give them a strong foundation full of educational opportunities, strong values and morals. We will encourage development of their natural abilities and do everything we can to help them achieve their goals and fullest potential.
